Nothing is better than sitting together with family on Christmas Eve, sipping hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies both old and new. Classic favorites such as “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “Miracle on 34 Street”, “A Christmas Story” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” will allow parents and grandparents to share their own special memories of past Christmases with children. Jim Carrey’s “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, along with “Polar Express” and “The Santa Clause” are also sure to delight and make new memories.

Unfortunately for those who do not have cable, Netflix has not gotten into the holiday spirit as much, and the selection is rather limited. You can still find “National  Lampoons Christmas Vacation” and “White Christmas”, but for the most part Netflix mostly has obscure, made-for-T.V. movies from the 1990s. When all else fails, of course you can always break out the old DVDs or go Redbox.

Go To the Movies

If your family would rather go to the movies and see something newly released, Tyler Perry’s “A Madea Christmas” will fit the comedy bill and leave you with some good moral lessons. The movie is PG-13, so it is good for families with older children. While not actually a Christmas movie, younger children and adults alike will enjoy the winter sensation “Frozen”. Whatever your preference is, there is nothing quite so bonding as watching a heartwarming Christmas film with your family.
