Taylor Swift has filed for a restraining order, and it’s not against any of her on-again, off-again beaus. A crazed fan named Timothy Sweet has taken to social media to tell the world that he is married to Swift. Reportedly, the 33-year-old fan has also sent a flood of emails and letters to the 24-year-old singer expressing his desire and claim to her, and eventually threatening her and her family. In a bizarre twist, Sweet also threatened U.S. secretary of state John Kerry, as well. “Dearest Taylor, I’ll kill any man who gets in the way of our marriage. Message to John Kerry, Secretary of State. Message from YOUR Presidential Candidate,” TMZ reports that Sweet wrote in one of many messages to Swift.
Restraining Order Granted
A temporary restraining order was approved for Swift and her family to keep Sweet away. The restraining order will expire on March 25, at which time the court will decide if it should be renewed. Swift claims that the man has been harassing her since 2011. However, he is not the first crazed fan to harass the successful singer. Last year, a man attempted to swim to her beachfront home in Rhode Island, and was apprehended by Swift’s security. In 2012, a man climbed a fence to access a home that was linked to Swift in Tennessee.
While Sweet has not yet been involved in any physical confrontations with Swift, the star was apparently rattled enough by his threats to feel the need to file for a restraining order. Swift specifically asked that her mother, father, and brother be named in the restraining order as well.
